Dear Westra Family and Friends September 23, 2006

Hi all, another week has passed quickly. We have some leads on vehicles. The best lead is a Toyota Van right here in town, but the lady needs to get the battery charged so we can get it checked out by the mechanic. I just called and she said Monday for sure.

Monday Casandra did family home evening on the signs of the times. She also took the boys to Scouts, Corin attending and Kadan helping. Conner helped with another group of scouts.

Tuesday Casandra took the boys down to Richfield for their Statesmanship Club activities.

Thursday Casandra planned a surprise date for me. We were picked up by Shelly and Rick Lutes and we drove down to Richfield to a restaurant called The Little Wonder Café. There we met the other adults from the statesmanship club. I had heard many of the names but it was nice to meet them in person. One lady gave a little presentation on the value of mentoring.

Thursday and Friday she took the boys over to Ephraim for their home schooling pottery project. Shelby’s Dad is a professional potter, and he gave the kids some clay. She is actually going to take all their pots to California to have her Dad fire them the right way. They had fun, and did a science activity over there also.

Friday evening we had a family video, watching Gallant Bess, a good old-fashioned movie about a man and his horse. We love our relaxing family movies.

I ordered a graphics program called Icon Forge for the boys and me. The program specialized in making tiny graphics, which is just what we need for our pixel ad and favicon project. See more below. The boys work hard each day to get chores and school done so they can come down on the other computer and build icons for me while playing with the graphics program. They are very skilled and creative!

Conner is a little too creative – he tried to talk Kadan into doing his typing for him. Now, the reason for typing practice is to learn to type, so you can’t just pay someone to do it for you. Kadan finally recognized that!

Tomorrow we are going up North for my cousin Matt’s homecoming from his mission. We are borrowing our neighbor’s van because Casandra will already be up there, but we couldn’t all fit in the car anyway.

We have had frost on several mornings, but just very light and so far the tomatoes and melons have been fine. Enjoy your Sunday and the coming week.
